Community Watch driver ticketed after crash leaves Villager pinned under golf cart

A Community Watch driver was ticketed after a crash Friday afternoon left a Villager pinned under his golf cart.

James Peter McAdams, 85, of the Village of Chatham, had been at the wheel of a white Community Watch truck at 1:34 p.m. when he made a left turn from Woodruff Street onto Stillwater Trail and was then making a right turn onto Elizabeth Court at the entrance to the Elizabeth Villas, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. As he was making the turn, McAdams pulled directly into the path of a 2009 Yamaha golf cart driven by 79-year-old Peter Edward Firlie of the Village of Caroline. The front tire of the golf cart struck the raised curb and Firlie was ejected. The golf cart landed on top of him, trapping him, the report said.

A Florida Highway Patrol diagram shows how the accident occurred.

Firlie was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

McAdams was ticketed for an improper lane change.
