Police called to CVS in Wildwood after altercation between homeless couple living in car

Pokie George

Police were called to a CVS Pharmacy in Wildwood after an altercation between a homeless couple living in their car.

A witness called 911 after seeing 54-year-old Pokie George shoving and screaming at a woman as they were standing outside a white Pontiac, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

When police arrived, they found the woman had multiple scratches near her eye and swelling of her lip.

She said she had been driving the car when George began strangling her. She “panicked” and pulled into the CVS parking lot.

She said this is not the first time the Tennessee native had attacked her. She said he is a “violent alcoholic” who also has a drug problem.

George was arrested on a felony battery charge and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
