Oft-arrested Villager back behind bars after violating his probation

Morris Wolff

An 82-year-old Villager is back behind bars after violating his probation.

Morris Hirsch Wolff was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center following his arrest at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the home he shares with his lady friend at 657 Mullins Path in the Village of Mallory Square.

An affidavit of violation of probation was entered earlier that day in Sumter County Court and a warrant was issued for Wolff’s arrest

Earlier this year, Wolff was placed on three years probation on charges of practicing law without a license, resisting arrest, trespassing and battery on a person over the age of 65. He was also ordered to perform 50 hours of community service. Special conditions of his probation included a ban on owning a gun, submitting to random drug screenings and submission of a DNA sample.

Wolff’s attorney, Michael Hollander, of Ocala, in December filed a motion seeking his client’s release from jail. In that motion Hollander claimed that Wolff is “suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.” Wolff had been booked on Nov. 19 and was ultimately released on Jan. 14.

The woman with whom Wolff resides in the Village of Mallory Square had pleaded with the judge to release Wolff, who twice has been arrested at the Tierra Del Sol tennis courts. Wolff had been accused of misrepresenting himself during a meeting in July at the Millhorn Law Firm in The Villages. He was later arrested on a charge of trespassing after showing up at the law firm, from which he had been banned.

Wolff was convicted of family abuse in 1999 in Hawaii and disorderly conduct in 1991 in Georgia.
