A Village of DeSoto man has been sentenced to anger management after a confrontation in a parking lot in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.
Joseph Michael Jacobini, 60, was arrested March 27 on a charge of criminal mischief after the angry confrontation which began in the parking lot at Publix at Grand Traverse Plaza.
A couple left the parking lot in a 2017 Subaru SUV and were stopped at a traffic light at State Road 44 and Powell Road when Jacobini pulled up next to them. Jacobini allegedly reached out the window and struck the passenger side mirror of the couple’s SUV, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Damage to their car was estimated at $400.
In lieu of prosecution, Jacobini has been allowed to enter into a pre-trial intervention contract. It calls for him to complete eight hours of training in anger management, pay restitution to the couple, undergo a mental health exam and seek recommended treatment, as well as perform 40 hours of community service. He has the option of “buying out” of half of the community service.
Jacobini and his wife purchased their home at 2429 Woods Way in November for $496,300.
Last year, a Village of Antrim Dells man was arrested after a violent confrontation with a Pennsylvania man in the same parking lot. The Pennsylvania man was in a golf cart with his two daughters who witnessed the altercation.
