Intoxicated renter arrested after alleged attack on pregnant woman in The Villages

Jael Marie Holmes

An intoxicated renter was  arrested after an alleged attack on a pregnant woman in The Villages.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 7:45 p.m. Sunday to the rental home at 1057 Soledad Way in the Village of Hacienda, where a pregnant woman said she had been pushed by 42-year-old Jael Marie Holmes of Jacksonville, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The pregnant woman said Holmes became upset after a drink was spilled during a card game at the residence. An argument broke out and Holmes pushed the woman, who is seven months pregnant, the report said.

“Holmes appeared intoxicated during the investigation and was getting very irritated with deputies on scene,” the arrest report said.

Holmes indicated she and others are living in the home “while doing construction work in The Villages.”

The home is owned by a Green Bay, Wis. couple who purchased it in 2017.

Holmes was arrested on charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and battery. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $7,000 bond.
