Americans must demand better treatment for veterans

To the Editor:

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that our injured, maimed and handicapped American heroes must go begging to charities like, Wounded Warriors, Folds of Honor and Tunnels to Towers to get what they need and deserve?
These charities do wonderful things to help and aid our veterans. My question is why must they do it and why doesn’t the American government provide for these needs. Where are the veteran’s lobbyists. At the same time 1.5 million illegal immigrants pour over our borders in about seven months, seeking welfare, free health care, free education and anything else they can get. What’s his name, in the White House, promotes this while our Veterans seek help from charity. This is pure insanity! No wounded warrior should want for anything, especially the families of the service men and women who gave their life and left a family behind.
Now the embarrassment in Afghanistan and all of their sacrifices there are forgotten or soon will be, Vietnam all over again. It is time for Americans to demand better treatment for veterans and their families to include assisted living mortgage free housing, education for the children left behind and yes an income for life, sufficient for the families to thrive not just survive.
We have spent trillions of dollars to help other countries, money that hasn’t even been printed yet. If you think the $35 trillion or so of debt we face is a lot, you cannot even imagine the shortfall of all of the pension plans at the local, school district, county, state and federal level without even adding social security – it must be hundreds of trillions of dollars – never even discussed by the press because they are stupid.
So, take care of those that deserve it most – veterans and veteran’s families – it is the least we can do in time of incomprehensible spending. We will never get out of debt – never. The bureaucrats who propose all the bills favoring their own pensions and benefits have bankrupted America, we just keep pushing off the inevitable collapse. Oh yes, those bills do not come from legislators, the bills come from unions and special interests lobbyists directly to the bureaucrats who feed them to the legislators like meat to alligators. Then legislators pound their chest while singing the songs written for them by the lobbyists. Wake up America! You are the only lobbyist working for our deserving veterans. My two cents.
