Michael Louis Smith, 69, of Coleman, FL went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. He was born July 21, 1952 in Artesia, NM to Gregory Mansell and Mary Frances “Cochran” Smith. Michael was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his 6 children, as well as his wife, Shirley.  Anyone who knew Michael, knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He is survived: by his loving wife of 32 years, Shirley Jeanette “Calhoun” Smith, and his children: Michael Shane (Tracia) Smith, Rachael (John) Escobar, Samuel (Jennifer) Johnson, Caleb (Chelsea) Smith, Gabrielle (Ralph) Tapia, and Tonya (Damion) Grob; His Mother, Ollie Ore and Brothers, Eddie (Nancy) Miller and Donnie (Gail) Miller. Michael is also survived by his Grandchildren Michael Smith, Danielle (Jimmy) Bryan, and Ryan Escobar, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Michael was a decorated veteran who served 13 years in the United States Air Force and served 6 years in the United States Navy. He was also a passionate Woodworker and could often be found in his shop creating new works of art for family and friends. He was a member of Cracker Woodshop Ocala, Fl., Blind Woodworkers of America, and United Community Fellowship. In addition to being a dedicated and loving Father, Michael also loved his United Community Fellowship church family. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
Viewing and Funeral Services will be held at Banks Page-Theus Funeral Home on Monday, December 6th 2021. Viewing Services begin at 10:30 a.m. Funeral Services begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial Services will be held at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell Florida beginning at 2 p.m. All condolences and remembrances should be sent to Banks Page-Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood Florida.
