A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the 6000 block of SW Hwy. 200 in reference to a traffic stop, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a K-9 deputy, who advised he conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 gray Ford four door for having only one operating brake light, the report stated. The K-9 deputy advised he witnessed the Ford’s brake light was out while traveling west on SW 66 Street, approaching SW Hwy. 200.

The deputy then made contact with the driver, 55-year-old William Edward Specht of Ocala, and while speaking with Specht, he could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle and observed Specht’s face to be flushed and his eyes to be watery and bloodshot. The deputy asked Specht if he consumed any alcoholic beverages, to which Specht advised that he was coming back from the Moose Lodge and only had one beer.

After failing field sobriety exercises, Specht was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he provided breath samples that registered .126 and .121 blood alcohol content.
