Margaret Wells Atwood, 87, of Oxford, FL, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018. Margaret was born a coal miner’s daughter April 15, 1930 in Benham, KY to Robert B. and Ada Mae (Fields) Wells.

She moved to Oxford, FL in 1978 from Lexington, KY and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford.

She is survived by sons, James Russell Atwood (Chris) of Bossier City, LA, Omer Alan Atwood (Melissa) of Summerfield and Devin Olan Atwood (Ashley) of Fruitland Park; daughters, Robin Sparkman (Scott) of Sumterville and Sheri Kay Davis (Charlie) of Liberty, KY; brother, Willis Wells of Nolensville, TN; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, James Omer Russell Atwood, son, Rodney Gale Atwood, daughter, Linda
Lee Buell, brother, John Wells and sisters Ola Hacker and Estelle Douglas.

Margaret lead a life centered on faith and family. She was lovingly known as
‘Momma’ by dozens of ‘kids’ that were not her own. There was always room at
the table, in the car, or in a sleeping bag on the floor for one more.

Margaret’s family and friends will celebrate her life on Saturday, February 17 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Oxford.
