Ocala man dies after Camaro traveling at high rate of speed crashes into tree

An Ocala man died after his Chevy Camaro traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a tree in Marion County.

Rufus Jim Donely, 44, had been at the wheel of the vehicle at 12:25 p.m. Saturday on County Road 316 when he lost control of the Camaro due to the high rate of speed and it left the roadway, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

When the vehicle hit the tree, it separated into two pieces.

Donely was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he later died from injuries suffered in the accident.
