Central Florida League Summer 2018 Highlights Week Nine

Week Nine of the Central Florida League’s summer season ended with
two teams tied for first place.

IHOP defeated Fross & Fross 14-7 to claim one of those spots.

IHOP scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth and five in the sixth to cinch the win. Manny Sanchez and Ken Atkinson had three hits each. One of Atkinson’s hits was a three run homer. Rick Duemler followed that with a solo homer and had a triple to drive in two more runs. Don Brozick and sub, Tom Bortle, both had a double to drive in two runs. Cal Driskill drove in three runs for Fross with a triple in the third. Bill Nisbet drove in the fifth run of the third. John Kushner had three hits and drove in two runs for Fross in the fifth inning.

Synergy Wealth broke out of the cellar by besting Team Koller 13-10.

Bob Kelly and Ed Haith had three hits each for Synergy. Jim White, Terry Baughman, and sub, Ken Link, each stroked two hits for the winners. Team Koller got four hits from Don Melcher and three each by Bill Reed and Jim Joseph. Adding a pair of hits were: Bob Buchanan, Rocky Spottswood, and sub, Ed Shirk.

Gators Brownwood secured the other top spot in the standings by defeating Palm Ridge Dental 12-7.

Gators got three hits from Charles Clare, Chuck Bowman, and sub pitcher, Tim Carroll. Adding a pair of hits each were: Tim Wilcox and Pete Rose. Palm Ridge had only one player with more than one hit, Ed Krisha. Dan Kincaid led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run. Ed Krisha had a triple to drive in a run and scored on a single by Jim Morton. Mike Jeffries drove in the last two runs of the inning with a triple.

Next week is the last week of the regular season and the game of the week will be the match up between Gators Brownwood and IHOP for the league championship.
