City Furniture employee suspected of bra heist at nearby Belk store

An employee of City Furniture will have to appear in court after a suspected bra heist at a nearby Belk store.

Versie Hildyard, 34, of Leesburg, entered the Belk store at La Plaza Grande in The Villages on Monday morning and took several items into a fitting room, re-emerging with only one of them, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Belk personnel identified the suspect captured on video as the employee of a nearby City Furniture store.

Police were able to contact Hildyard, who showed up Tuesday for an interview at the Lady Lake Police Department. She allegedly took a bra valued at $44, a push-up bra also valued at $44 and a shirt valued at $30, the report said. She was issued a notice to appear in Lake County Court. She has no prior theft convictions, the report noted.
