Florida Congressman Patrick Murphy will visit The Villages Democratic Club on Saturday, Jan. 9  at Colony Cottage Recreation Center.

The Democrat is hoping to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate

After working as a certified public accountant for Deloitte & Touché, Murphy began his own environmental cleanup business.

He was then first elected to Congress in 2012 and said he has focused on championing the middle class, strengthening Social Security and Medicare for future generations, protecting Florida’s environment, and breaking through the partisan gridlock in Washington.

In 2014, the Florida Audubon Society named him Champion of the Everglades. The 18th Congressional District representative currently serves on the House Financial Services and Intelligence committees and founded the United Solutions Caucus, which he also co-chairs.

The Villages Democratic Club meeting will begin at 9:45 a.m. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. All club members will be seated first; visitors and guests will be seated if space is available.
