FHP report details collision between vehicle and golf cart

A 68-year-old Village of Buttonwood man suffered a medical emergency before he drove his car onto a golf cart path Saturday morning, knocking another man out of his golf cart at Tarpon Boil golf course.

Jeremiah John Bullen, who lives on Quiet Oak Court, was at the wheel of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata at 10:15 a.m. and was traveling west on Nobleton Lane west of Buttonwood Run when he suffered the medical episode, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. His vehicle traveled over the curb and onto the golf cart path, striking a 2003 Yamaha golf cart driven by Gary Ferguson, 62, who lives on Bachman Path in the Village of Buttonwood.

Ferguson was thrown from his cart as a result of the impact and his golf cart was knocked over.

Bullen was transported by ambulance to Leesburg Regional Medical Center.

Ferguson went to The Villages Regional Hospital.

Ferguson’s golf cart did not have seatbelts, the FHP report indicated.

Nobleton Lane was closed for a portion of Saturday as the crash was under investigation.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Villages Public Safety Department, Rural/Metro Ambulance and Community Watch all responded to the scene.
