Plenty of entertainment on tap for Mother’s Day weekend in The Villages

Mother’s Day weekend in The Villages will be filled with entertainment and activity for local moms.
It starts Thursday, May 5, at 2 and 7 p.m. in Savannah Center with “My Fair Lady,” featuring Broadway performer Patrick Sullivan as Professor Henry Higgins. “My Fair Lady,” features Samantha Geraci-Yee as Eliza Doolittle and will also be performed Friday May 6, at 2 and 7 p.m.
If mom likes to see a good old fashioned jig and Irish songs, she will enjoy The Young Irelanders, Saturday May 7, at 7 p.m. in Savannah. The show features one of Riverdance’s lead dancers.
Should mom play the ponies, she will enjoy Derby Day At Polo, Saturday, May 7, at 4 p.m. at The Villages Polo Club, 703 Buena Vista Blvd. It is presented by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Tell mom to wear hot headgear to compete in the best hat contest. There will also be a barbecue, live entertainment and Scooter the DJ. Gates open at 3 p.m.
Sunday, May 8, is Mother’s Day and popular local singer Josh Leggett will team with vocalist Rick Silanskas to debut their show: The Magic of the Night: A Musical Journey. Two dinner shows will held at 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. at Katie Belles in Spanish Springs Town Square.
Finally, a very special Mother’s Day benefit featuring singers Suzie Casta and Lisa Coan will be held in the Lake Miona Recreation Center. Proceeds will benefit Jessica Ross, 17, to help with her education. Jessica’s mother, Michele Ross, was killed in a car accident this past summer. For information call 954-242-5459.
