Malfunctioning air conditioner creates smoky scare at Brownwood pet store

Firefighters from The Villages Public Safety Department and Sumter County Fire Rescue responded to a call for help Thursday morning at Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming in Brownwood.

A 911 caller reported smoke in the building but when firefighters arrived, it was determined to be a problem with an air conditioning unit, most likely related to a belt, officials said.

There was no damage to the building and there were no injuries reported to either people or animals.
