Man will have to answer in court after alleged theft of children’s clothing at Kohl’s

A man who claimed he forgot his wallet will have to answer in court after the alleged theft of children’s clothing at Kohl’s in Lady Lake.

Christopher Whitehurst, 30, of Ocala, entered the store on the evening of Nov. 23 and took children’s clothing and a Derma Wand into a fitting room, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When he came out of the fitting room, none of the items were visible and he walked out of the store. He was stopped by store personnel.

Whitehurst told police he was “sorry” and realized he forgot his wallet and did not have any money to pay for the items, the report said. He was issued a notice to appear in Lake County Court on a charge of retail theft and has been banned from Kohl’s.
