An Ocala man was arrested late Tuesday night after an argument over a container holding leftover food turned violent.
Joseph Steven Taylor, 38, was taken into custody after Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a house on SE 17th Avenue. When they arrived, a woman at the home told them that Taylor became angry over leftover food being placed in an “inappropriate” container. She said she was in the bathroom and when she tried to exit it, Taylor shoved her with an open hand on her lower neck, causing a red mark, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that the deputy took note of the mark.
The woman said they continued to argue and at one point, Taylor allegedly said, “I want to blow your brains out.” The woman said that’s when she called 911 for help, the report says.
Taylor told deputies that he and the woman “were only arguing” and he denied shoving her. He was then booked into the Marion County Jail early Wednesday morning and charged with domestic battery.
Taylor was being held on $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom Nov. 20 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge.
