A Wildwood man was arrested after allegedly cashing altered checks at a downtown business.
Joshua Flowers, 26, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on two counts of grand theft and two counts of fraud.
Flowers is charged with cashing checks from Bridgefield Employers Insurance Company on Aug. 11 and 12 at Dev’s Discount Beverage on Main Street in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. An investigation revealed he changed the dates on two checks and changed the amount on one check from $120.65 to $798.68.
At the time Flowers cashed the checks, he presented a Nebraska identification and provided a cell phone number, which happened to be on file with both the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Wildwood Police Department.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $8,000 bond.
Flowers was also arrested in August after he was found with marijuana after a traffic stop near the Village of Fenney.
