Habitual offender nabbed on U.S.  Hwy. 27/441 jailed on $10,000 bond

A 56-year-old habitual traffic offender was jailed on $10,000 bond after he was caught driving on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near the entrance to Oakland Hills subdivision.

Ronald Eugene Berrian of Ocklawaha had been at the wheel of a white Ford pickup at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when he was stopped for having an expired registration, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A check of his license revealed multiple suspensions and revocations, including a conviction for driving under the influence. His license had been revoked for 60 months for being a habitual offender. A check revealed convictions for driving on a suspended license in 1996 and 2001 in Broward and Orange counties.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
