John Lawrence Doyle

John L. Doyle, 79 of The Villages, FL, died peacefully in the arms of his wife on July 8, 2015 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He and his devoted wife Mary (Welch) were happily married for 48 years. He was born in Hanover, NH, the son of the late Ruth Simmonds Banker and John J. Doyle. He was the brother of Cordelia Greene, Judith Sage and the late Bruce Sage, Ralph Sage and Robert Banker. He was the father of 3 sons, Christopher, Kevin (Marilyn), and Anthony (Julie) and 1 daughter, Karen (Jim) Culhane. He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons. He received his undergraduate degree from Lyndon State College in VT and his graduate degree from Rhode Island College. John taught high school and middle school for a total of 31 years in VT, MA and RI. Before moving to The Villages 5 years ago he and his family lived in Barrington, and Cumberland, RI. John’s strong Roman Catholic faith lead him to be active in his parish churches as a lector, a Eucharistic Minister and a Parish Council member. He and his wife were leaders in Worldwide Marriage Encounter, programs for engaged couples and teenage Search retreats. This quiet, mild mannered man will best be remembered for his unfailing faith, devotion to wife and family, strength and positive attitude. A saint on earth, an angel in heaven. His life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 7801 SE Hwy 42, Summerfield, FL at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in John’s name to The National Parkinson’s Foundation, P.O.
