Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting in progress in the area of Willow Road in Silver Springs Shores at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to a MCSO press release. When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered an abandoned vehicle that displayed evidence of being involved in a shooting, the report stated. Deputies quickly discovered the actual shooting occurred a short distance away on the edge of the driveway of the residence. Dispatch stated that a woman called 911 and said she was driving the victim to the hospital. The shooting victim later died from his injuries at Ocala Regional Medical Center.

A witness told detectives that 19-year-old Kasaan Kalik Patterson and the victim, 26-year-old Jeffery Todd Aaron, had gotten into an argument. A resident who lives nearby had surveillance cameras outside their home that captured the shooting, the report noted.

As depicted in the surveillance video, detectives believe that Patterson was the individual who shot Aaron. Patterson was also known to drive the vehicle found abandoned on Willow Road that was involved in the shooting.

He is currently being held in the Marion County Jail with bond posted at $100,000.
