Pair arrested after traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake

A man and a woman were arrested after a traffic stop early Saturday morning on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.

Steven Allen Monk, 29, of Ocala, had been driving a pickup truck at about 2 a.m. when he was pulled over in the Take 5 oil change station parking lot for an inoperable tag light, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The police officer discovered that Monk’s license had been suspended as of Oct. 2 and that he had three previous convictions for driving while license suspended.

K-9 Lux alerted on the vehicle indicating the likely presence of drugs.

Passenger Patricia Sue Irwin, 30, of Ocala, was found to have a bag containing 13 grams of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested and booked at the Lake County Jail.
