A 27-year-old woman who used her father’s MyLowe’s account to obtain bogus refunds from Lowe’s in Lady Lake, said she needed money to take care of her child.
Casey Lynn Goodway of Belleview entered the store four times – March 14, 16, 20 and 23 – with an accomplice, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Each time, they would take merchandise from the store and then go to the service desk to seek a refund. Each time they were asked for a receipt, they would use a phone to show a receipt from a MyLowe’s account later linked to Goodway’s father, the report indicated.
Goodway returned to the store on Tuesday and was arrested. She had been identified by a clerk in a photo lineup.
When Goodway was taken into custody, she said she needed the money to take care of her child.
“It was just stupid,” she said.
She was booked on multiple charges of petit theft at the Sumter County Detention Center.
Her accomplice has not been arrested.
