Lady Lake man accused of giving false information to law enforcement

A 32-year-old Lady Lake man was arrested by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a Bay County warrant following a traffic stop.

Timothy Eugene Whitten was also arrested on a charge of giving false information to a law enforcement officer.

The arrest came shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday in Wildwood.

Whitten attempted to give a false name to deputies, according to the arrest report.

When deputies obtained his correct name and ran it through records, it was discovered he was wanted on a Bay County warrant charging him with violation of probation.

He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center.
