Bridgeport at Lake Sumter gate about to get a makeover

Changes are coming to the gate at Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.
Changes are coming to the gate at Bridgeport at Lake Sumter.

The entry gate at the Village of Bridgeport at Lake Sumter is about to get a makeover.

The entry gate has an unusually short arm, Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management told Community Development District 6 supervisors on Friday.

The short arm has tempted golf cart drivers to drive around the gate arm rather than using their gate card to open it. Smaller cars have been trying the same thing. That’s been causing some traffic backups out onto Buena Vista Boulevard.

CDD 6 Supervisor Peter Moeller suggested that the board might consider removing the speed bumps on the multi-modal path at the gate. That possibility could be discussed at a future CDD 6 meeting.
