President Trump’s commitment to school choice

Congressman Daniel Webster
Congressman Daniel Webster

I was honored to attend President Trump’s first Joint Address to Congress. It was an upbeat and presidential address that touched on several issues important to our district. The President’s commitment to improving infrastructure offers a unique opportunity to build 21st century infrastructure for our district and America. I was thrilled to see Floridian, Denisha Merriweather, as one of his special guests. Her story is a great example of the power of school choice. I couldn’t agree more with President Trump’s commitment to school choice or his quest to quest to end job-killing regulations that burden small businesses and stifle job creation.

Additionally, I had the honor of serving as a panelist at the Council for National Policy alongside my friend and colleague, Congressman Mark Meadows. I discussed my vision for the 115th Congress, and expanded upon my view that power and principle

cannot coexist. Congress can only enact good policy when it is priority-driven, member-driven, and principle-based, and I am committed to doing my part to make this vision a reality.

It is always a pleasure to meet with constituents.  Groups including the Rural Community Assistance Partnership and Volunteer Florida are investing in and making a difference in the lives of children and families in the district.  It was great to meet with representatives of both programs and hear the results of their latest projects. I also met with representatives from the Florida Civil Air Patrol.

It was great to see my friend and Marion County Commissioner Carl Zalak, along with Commissioner Kathy Bryant, and County Administrator Mounir Bouyounes. I look forward to being a partner in D.C., supporting their local projects and getting the federal government out of their way as they serve the community.
