Congressman Daniel Webster was among a stubborn group of Republican holdouts forcing the postponement of a vote on the House GOP health care bill that had been anticipated Thursday.

The Clermont Republican who represents The Villages in the U.S. House of Representatives, reportedly is “very concerned” about the impact proposals will have on the demand for Medicaid beds in Florida hospitals and nursing homes.

The Congressman reportedly believes recent amendments still do not address the critical need for access by the area’s senior population to hospitals and nursing homes.

Webster continues to raise this with leadership and the administration and is “hopeful” for a solution.

The GOP bill is backed by President Donald Trump.

Webster has indicated that he believes the ACA, also known as Obamacare, has to go.

“One thing is certain, the Affordable Care Act has been everything but affordable and is collapsing across the country, raising costs for patients and forcing insurers out of the marketplace, which leaves patients and families with nowhere to go,” he said.
