A Wildwood man was allegedly attacked by his ex-wife and her new husband after a dispute over visitation with the former couple’s children on Halloween.

Wildwood police were called at about 9 p.m. to a house on Lee Street after the children’s father was attacked by 34-year-old Joshua Wayne Figler and 29-year-old Melissa Beth Figler, both of Dunnellon, according to an arrest report. The couple showed up, apparently unannounced, at his home.

They wanted to see the children, but were denied due to it not being Melissa Figler’s turn to have custody of the children. Then a metal water bottle was thrown at the man and a brawl broke out, during which Melissa Figler bit him on the chest as the trio was wrestling on the ground.

Joshua Figler, who allegedly threw the object at the man, was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery, while Melissa Figler was arrested on a charge of battery. Both were booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting bond.
