Nilexis Pedro Morel

A suspected beer thief spent the weekend in jail after an alleged heist in Lady Lake.

Nilexis Pedro Morel, 18, of Orlando, was booked last week at the Lake County Jail on a charge of retail theft.

He was tracked down after he allegedly stole two 18-packs of Bud Light on Dec. 6 from the Sunoco station on U.S. Hwy. 27/441, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He ran out with the beer without paying for it. Morel had been paid $40 to purchase the beer. An arrest warrant was issued Jan. 9.

At the time of his arrest last week, Morel also was taken into custody on a warrant charging him with failure to appear.

He was being held on $2,500 bond.
