Thomas Francis Mowles, Jr. Summerfield Fl; (Previously Pine Brook, NJ) – Dr. Thomas F. Mowles, Jr. 85, died Saturday, March 30, 2019 after a short illness at Brandley House Hospice of Marion County.

Born to Thomas F. Sr. and Mary (Mae) Mowles in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Mowles was raised in Massachusetts before moving to New Jersey with his beautiful wife Jacqueline.

Dr. Mowles received his Bachelor’s Degree at Boston University and several Masters and PhD’s in Rutgers and Seton Hall.  He had worked for Ciba Geigy and Hoffman La Roche for more than 30 years where he help develop several lifesaving and life improving medications.  He was an active member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Mowles believed in education and was on the Montville Township Board of Education for 10 years. He was an avid poker player and a great fan of the Boston Red Sox and Jeopardy.

Dr. Mowles is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Mowles (nee Coutu); his children, Thomas (Amy) Mowles of Sandusky Ohio, Christopher Mowles of Springfield, Illinois, Jean (Christopher) Boone of Winter Garden, Florida, Jane Mowles of Franklin, NJ, eight grandchildren; as well as his sister, Jane Gillespie (nee Mowles) of Harrisburg PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Services will be private at the family’s request.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Brandley House at the Hospice of Marion County.
