A Lake County resident and an inmate at a Bushnell prison are the latest local victims of the Coronavirus.
No specific information was available about either victim. But the deaths mark the 15th in Lake County and the third one at the Sumter Correctional Institution, where 16 staff members and 103 inmates have tested positive for COVID-19. Another prisoner is in medical isolation and 881 are in medical quarantine, according to Friday’s report from the Florida Department of Corrections.
The tri-county area continues to report 751 COVID-19 cases among 407 men, 326 women and 18 non-residents. There have been 37 deaths and 147 people have required hospital care.
Sumter County’s total number of cases was decreased by two to 252 on Friday. Those are comprised of 180 men, 71 women and one non-resident. They range in age from 17-92, with a median age of 65. There have been 17 deaths and 44 people have required some form of hospital care.
Lake County increased by two cases to 266 on Friday, divided among 127 men, 127 women and 12 non-residents. The patients range in age from 1-98, with a median age of 52. There have been 15 deaths and 72 people have been hospitalized.
Marion County remained steady at 233 cases among 100 men, 128 women and five non-residents. The patients range in age from 6 months to 97, with a median age of 49. There have been five deaths and 31 people have been seen in area hospitals.
All told, Florida is reporting 49,451 COVID-19 cases – an increase of 776 in a 24-hour period. Of those, 48,150 are residents. There have been 2,190 deaths and 9,117 people have been hospitalized across the Sunshine State.
