A local handyman was arrested after he was found at a known drug house with methamphetamine in his pocket.
Shawn Timothy Byrne, 46, owner of Shawn Byrne’s Handyman Service, was spotted shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday parked near the drug house on Shadow Hill Drive in Fruitland Park, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Byrne claimed he did not have any identification. During a pat down, a deputy found a plastic bag tucked in a second plastic bag in Byrne’s front pocket containing clear crystals identified as methamphetamine.
The Illinois native was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond.
Byrne had been arrested last year after he attempted to destroy evidence during a traffic stop in The Villages. He was arrested in 2016 after he fraudulently attempted to “return” $300 worth of paint at Lowe’s in Summerfield.
