Circle K employee jailed after allegedly stealing food and lottery tickets

A Circle K employee was jailed after allegedly stealing food, beverage and lottery tickets from his place of employment.

John Roy Shelton III, 22, of Webster was arrested Friday after turning himself in at the Wildwood Police Department.

He was employed at the Circle K at the Shell gas station at U.S. 301 and State Road 44 when he admitted to stealing more than $900 worth of Florida Lottery tickets. He had been caught on video surveillance taking the scratch-off tickets and stashing them in a drawer before moving them to his pants which were covered by his shirt, according to an arrest report.

He had also been captured on surveillance on several days taking food and beverage items and consuming them during his shifts.

He was arrested on a charge of grand theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $2,000 bond.
