‘Homefront’ showcases elite forces, lots of bullets

MV5BMTUwOTAzNzAwMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTc1NDIyMDE@._V1_By J.R. “Jim” Zurak

Think of this as a Sylvester Stallone (written and produced by) Thanksgiving Present for all of the members of the military’s elite combat units. Think of a Delta Forces – Army Rangers -Navy Seals training movie in hand to hand combat and smaller caliber weapons proficiency. Now think of Sheriff Buford Pusser’s character in Walking tall or Steven Segal in Hard to Kill and you have the nexus of this Baker Alpha action movie starring Jason Statham. Fresh from a variety of transporter movies, Mr. Statham is a former undercover DEA (Drug enforcement Agent) whose wife has recently died leaving him as the sole care giver of his 10 year old daughter. What follows is the necessary to the movie’s story line of Statham’s character managing to alienate the one member of this small Louisiana town where they moved to enjoy the safety a small town is expected to provide, who just happens to be a big time wanna be drug dealer. Everything that follows is simply good guy vs bad guy(s) with enough bullets and hand to hand combat to satisfy even the most ardent “take no prisoners – kick ass” movie aficionados. Rating: Baker Alpha. If you have to ask – you probably wouldn’t enjoy the movie anyway.

The movie is playing only at the Barnstorm Theater in Brownwood.
