Dodge Dakota pickup truck stolen at BP Station in Ocala

A Dodge Dakota pickup truck was stolen at a BP Station in Ocala on Wednesday morning.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the BP gas station located at 5061 S Pine Ave. in reference to a stolen vehicle, according to a MCSO incident report. The victim advised the deputy that his 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup truck had been stolen while he was talking with an acquaintance at the gas station, the report stated. He said he arrived at the gas station around 10:55 a.m. and noticed his truck had been stolen at 11:05 a.m. The victim stated he never saw anyone get into the truck and did not see the truck leave the location. He left the vehicle unlocked with the keys still in the ignition, according to the report.

The man described his truck to be a two-door with an extended cab, gray in color with a rusting roof and a dent near the driver side rear tire. The middle of the front windshield was broken and cracked due to a rock hitting it.

The suspect is said to be an unknown white male who arrived on foot at the incident location while the victim was speaking with the acquaintance, according to the crime report.  The suspect then walked around the parking lot and the victim’s truck for a short time then entered the store again. After retrieving a fountain drink, the suspect exited the building and immediately entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away.
