He was born in Schenectady, NY, to Lyman F. Holder and Christina Holder. He attended school in Burnt Hills, NY, then graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steven.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Sarah, his daughters Jennifer of Groveland, MA, and Heidi of Medford, MA, their spouses, his brother Philip and wife Patricia of Ballston Lake, NY, and his sister Susan of Indianapolis, IN. He was a sincere and caring husband, father, brother, teammate, and friend.
