Dollars for Scholars awards scholarships to 10 students in Wildwood

The Villages Chapter of Dollars for Scholars scholarships awarded scholarships Tuesday morning at the Wildwood Middle High School Community Awards Ceremony.

Scholarship recipients were:

• Virginia Williamson

• Katie Belle Stalvey

• Brittany O’Leary

• Brittany Fowler

• Kayla Griffis

• Katharine Ebert

• Kirsten Duffy

• Chantel Hampton

• Chalae Whittaker

• Gregario Flores

Dollars for Scholars will distribute $58,000 n scholarships this year alone. The typical scholarship is worth $5,000.

Much of the money is raised through the Starry  Starry musical variety programs at Savannah Center.

Starry, Starry 5 is coming to Savannah Center on Nov. 8.

Scholarship America named The Villages chapter as its 2013 chapter of the year in the 10-state Southeast Region. Chapter President Carol Lutgen was honored as volunteer of the year.
