Letter to the Editor: Where have the good old days gone in The Villages?

To the Editor:

I read with great interest, the proposal by the Villages Owners to begin charging $10.00 for reserved parking spots on the Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Squares. What’s next, pay toilets in the rec centers? Coin slots on the water fountains? Reserved seat up charges at the movie theaters? Ticket booths on the squares? I assume the valet slots will come out of the already scarce parking places now available at the two squares. That’s what they did at the Hospital. So if they are not used they will remain vacant. Where are the hoards that are expected to pay $45-$150 (once free) to attend the Sharon Center going to park. I don’t recall seeing any additional parking areas being built? Polo went from $3.00 to whatever the traffic will bear. Katie Belle’s is being turned into a shopping mall.

What happened to “Florida’s Friendliest Hometown?” Maybe it is now “Florida’$ Friendlie$t Hometown”.
