Local residents being inundated with IRS scam calls

The Seniors vs. Crime offices in The Villages are being inundated with reports of IRS scam calls being received by residents.

“Long story short, the scammers are flooding the area with IRS calls and folks need to remember not to talk to them or even answer the phone if they don’t recognize the number on their caller ID,” said Steve Renico, head of Seniors vs. Crime in The Villages. “The IRS will NEVER call folks on the phone about delinquent taxes. If someone receives a call from an ‘IRS agent.’ hang up!  It’s a scam.”
