A sinkhole by any other name is … WHAT?

To the Editor:

Villages-News just reported a “depression” (sinkhole) on land where Spring Water Resources got a permit to take 496K gallons/day for 20 years from two “springs” – NOT really springs – HOLES in the aquifer.

SWF Water District didn’t VERIFY SWR’s allegations this will cause no shortage to Villages water supply OR damage its purity.

A cemetery 200 feet from the proposed well could allow pollution to enter the aquifer.

The “depression”, NOW has a 10-foot-wide “fissure” at its bottom of unknown depth.

Villages builders will apply for more water for hundreds of units near Fruitland Park and State Road 44/U.S. 301.

BY LAW, Villages citizens have the burden to “prove” damage to their water supply will exceed the benefit SWR will gain before we can reverse their permit.

We must fight this before an Administrative Judge. It will cost Villages citizens a pretty penny, but fortunately there are a lot of us and $10 from each of us can easily finance this fight.

Since protest meetings March and June, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit was formed, and will support Protect Our Water’s fundraising. We’ve found an attorney who can overturn this scheme. Look for info soon about how you can help. Go to https://www.gofundme.com/23wdqas.
