A daycare center worker is free on $500 bond following her arrest for leaving a small child in a hot van at the ViaPort Florida Mall.

Cheryl Hannah, 55, of New Life Center Ministries, was arrested Friday by Leesburg police.

She had taken a group of children from the daycare center to the AMC movie theater at the mall, but left a 3-year-old boy in the van. He was discovered by a woman while Hannah and the children were watching a movie.

The boy was sweating profusely and in clear distress.

Hannah is facing a charge of leaving a child under the age of 6 in a vehicle for more than 15 minutes. She said she did not realize she had left the boy in the van.

Her arraignment is set for July 13 in Lake County Court.
