A 79-year-old Villager was ticketed Monday morning after crashing his golf cart in the outside dining area at a restaurant at Spanish Springs.
The crash occurred at 9:20 a.m. at Panera on Main Street when Sandor Radvanyi of the Village of Tierra del Sol was leaving the restaurant. He got into his golf cart and thought he had put it into reverse, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Instead, he put it into “forward,” and drove into the dining area, damaging a railing, table and chairs. A window cracked and The Villages Public Safety Department removed the window for safety reasons.
No one was injured in the accident.
Radvanyi was ticketed on a charge of careless driving. He was able to drive his golf cart home.
This is not the first time a motor vehicle has crashed into an outside dining area. It happened in 2014 at Dunkin Donuts in Spanish Springs. You can read that incident HERE
