New chicken salad restaurant opening in Spanish Springs

A new restaurant is coming to La Plaza Grande shopping center in The Villages.

Chicken Salad Chick, a restaurant serving 15 different kinds of chicken salad and fresh foods, will open its newest franchise at 996 Bichara Blvd. in La Plaza Grande at Spanish Springs.

The new location, previously inhabited by Mario’s Pizza, will officially open its doors for business on Jan. 27.

According to their website, the company got its start in Alabama and has steadily grown throughout southern states. With nearly a dozen franchises in Florida, Chicken Salad Chick is no stranger to opening new locations in the Sunshine State and specifically, central and northern Florida. The organization opened a new location in Gainesville, Florida on December 8, 2015, and has previously opened franchises in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, and Orlando, among other cities in Florida.

Much like their chicken brethren at Chick-Fil-A, Chicken Salad Chick will be closed on Sundays, operating Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The restaurant places an emphasis on fresh, healthy foods, boasting a menu free of anything fried.

The newest restaurant addition in The Villages follows a recent string of restaurant openings all over Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. Over the past six months, The Villages has seen the addition of Honest John’s (Lake Sumter Landing), World of Beer (Spanish Springs), and PDQ (Colony Plaza), while Texas Roadhouse is set to open this spring.
