Villager killed in accident on Interstate 75

A 55-year-old Villager was killed Friday night in an accident on Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

Dawn Eileen Asbra who resided on Soledad Way in the Village of Hacienda had been driving a 2003 Ford Taurus at 8 p.m. near Mile Marker 309 when her vehicle was struck by a 1999 Chrysler four-door driven by Joshua Alan Jones, 30, of Tampa, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Asbra died at the scene of the accident.

Jones suffered minor injuries. A 6-year-old passenger in Jones’ vehicle, Evan A. Jones, also of Tampa, suffered minor injuries, too.

Charges are pending, the FHP report indicated.
