Dorothea Dickson

Dorothea (Dottie) May Dickson, 82, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 19, 2014. She was born May 6, 1931 in Somerset, Pennsylvania to Alva and Henrietta (Levine) Carter.
Dottie, formerly of Jacksonville, resided in The Villages 18 years. She was one of the original founding members of Fairway Christian Church, participating in the Women’s Christian Fellowship and served as the early Financial Secretary and Treasurer. She retired from the Naval Air Station Jacksonville; and Kings Bay Submarine Base, St. Mary’s Ga. Dottie loved to sew; making clothes, wedding dresses for two granddaughters and others, teddy bears for the Boggy Creek Gang Camp and decorated many homes in Jacksonville and The Villages. She loved to spend time with family and friends, play games and dance.
Dottie will be missed by her husband, Sylva H. Dickson, Jr., sons, Stephen L. Davidson ( Lorene), and Kevin R. May (Judy); stepchildren, Jim Dickson (Brenda), David Dickson (Jamie), Patty Cole (Brian); grandchildren, LaNae Malcolm (Jay); Mark Davidson (Laura); Kevin and Timothy May; step grandchildren, Bryan, Stephanie, Trevor, David Grant, Tim, Alisha; great grandchildren, Samantha, Sabrina, Tieg and Reese Malcolm, Macy and Quinn Davidson; step great granddaughter, Hanna; sisters, Helen Snyder and Mabel Siefert; brothers Edward Carter and Richard Carter, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Fairway Christian Church, 251 Avenida Los Angelos, The Villages, Wednesday, April 23rd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the church.
