Letter to the Editor: Alcohol Consumption

To the Editor:

Do villagers drink to excess?  Very seldom does a day go by without a police report being filed for either Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or an incidence of violence due to alchohol consumption. Rather than post any of hundreds of sites or sources that seem to spin the finding one way or the other, I would like to provide a chart of American drinking statistics and ask that you judge yourself. For a baseline and my personal opinion, I drink between 2 and 10 beers a week, depending on how many events I attend that offer alcohol. I feel I drink too much.  Look at the chart in this link and judge yourself. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2014/09/25/think-you-drink-a-lot-this-chart-will-tell-you/
