Joe Elliott, who previously lived in the Village of Pennecamp, had served as a supervisor in Community Development District 8. He resigned from that position last year when he and his wife moved to the Village of Collier at Antrim Dells which is located within the city limits of Wildwood.

Last month, Elliott filed paperwork with the Sumter County Supervisor of Elections Office seeking election to the Group 3 seat on the commission, now held by Commissioner Robby Strickland.

Elliott has been attending Wildwood Commission meetings.

He has been active in the Villages Homeowners Association and Republican politics.

In 2014, Wildwood voters rejected a measure that would have afforded incumbents some measure of political self-preservation as the city’s population takes in new residents, including those in The Villages. You can read more about that effort HERE. A similar measure won approval in Fruitland Park.
