Philip C. Johnson, 80, passed away on August 14, 2017 in The Villages, Florida. Phil was born on March 26, 1937 in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Phil graduated from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, IL. He then attended Wabash College in Indiana. Phil was a salesman for Bird & Son roofing and building materials and was later employees by Benson’s Hardware in Londonderry, NH for many years.

Phil married Joyce Wolma in 1959, they were happily married for 49 years. Both Phil and Joyce were members of the Bedford Presbyterian church.

Phil served in the Army from 1960 – 1966. He was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas. He later received orders to go to the 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, IL, where he was an Aviation Administration Scheduler. He held the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7).

Phil was active in the Bedford Boy Scouts Troop 414 as an Assistant Scout Master and took pride in having 2 sons as well as 2 grandsons that achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Phil enjoyed golfing, billiards, spending time with his friends and family, especially planning and taking family trips. Phil will be remembered by his love for his family, his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and his ability to tell a story with an amazing memory for details and dates.

Phil is survived by his three children, Garrick Johnson and his wife Dawn of Bedford, NH, Philip (Randy) Johnson and his wife Lyn of Lebanon, CT, Michael Johnson and his wife Lynn of Windham, NH; his siblings, David Johnson and his wife Mimi of VA, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Joan of CA, Jennifer Osborne of CT; 8 grandchildren, Silas & Summer Johnson, Heather & Bryce Johnson, Cody & Lucas Johnson, and Kaylee & Patrick Dolan; his nieces and nephews, and a long list of friends. Phil was preceded by his wife Joyce, and his parents Philip and Wilma. The family wishes to thank all of Phil’s friends in Florida who provided friendship and support throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held in New Hampshire at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Villages Honor Flight, Inc.
