Couple arrested after stolen tractor, flatbed trailer spotted being towed by truck in Lady Lake

A man and woman were arrested after a stolen tractor and flatbed trailer were spotted being towed Friday in Lady Lake.

The owner reported that his orange Kabota tractor with a front-end loader and flatbed trailer had been taken from his property at 2740 Lake Ella Road. The tractor is valued at $15,000 and the trailer is valued at $4,500.

The tractor and trailer were spotted being towed on County Road 25 in Lady Lake.

Taken into custody on charges of grand theft were 47-year-old Patrick Joseph Smith of Summerfield and 30-year-old April Nicole Adkins of Belleview.

Smith said they had picked up the tractor and trailer at the American Legion Post in Lady Lake. He said he had done so at the request of a third party. Smith said he did not know they were stolen. Adkins said they had been paid $500 to pick up the tractor and trailer.

Both were booked at the Lake County Jail.
